Physics 2111: University Physics

The syllabus provide much of the basic administrative details about the course. I will be posting some of the hand-outs from class as I get them prepared.

There are a number of specific objectives for the course.

  1. To teach the process of keeping a good lab notebook as a thorough and reliable record of scientific inquiry.
  2. Practice in preparing written lab reports.
  3. The use of graphical analysis both as a means of conveying information and as a means of testing the veracity of physical models.
  4. Procedures for dealing with uncertainties in measurements and how to combine uncertainties to determine the extent to which theory and experiemnt agree.
  5. Develop the ability to think critically about how to structure and perform experiments and how to improve and refine experiments.
