The syllabus provide much of the basic administrative details about the course. I will be posting some of the hand-outs from class as I get them prepared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of specific objectives for the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To teach the process of keeping a good lab notebook as a thorough and reliable record of scientific inquiry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Practice in preparing written lab reports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The use of graphical analysis both as a means of conveying information and as a means of testing the veracity of physical models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Procedures for dealing with uncertainties in measurements and how to combine uncertainties to determine the extent to which theory and experiemnt agree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Develop the ability to think critically about how to structure and perform experiments and how to improve and refine experiments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
